  • Anthony M. (MAC) Smith, PE. Consulting Engineer - Anthony M. Smith is a senior consultant to government and industry, and is involved in a wide variety of consulting projects in the energy, aerospace, and industrial sectors. During the past 25 years, he has made pioneering contributions to the introduction of the Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology in optimizing preventive maintenance programs at power generating plants and various production processing facilities . He has more than 52 years of technical and management experience, including 24 years with General Electric. The author of more than 50 technical papers, Mr. Smith is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a past chair of its System Effectiveness and Safety Technical Committee. He is past General Chairman of the Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, and is a registered Professional Engineer in California. He resides in San Jose, California.

Mac is the author of the internationally recognized book titled "Reliability-Centered Maintenance" (McGraw Hill, 1993). More recently, Mac has published a new book " RCM - Gateway to World Class Maintenance (Elseviers 2004). "

  • Tim Allen, Consulting Engineer - Mr. Allen is the former RCM Program Manager at Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP), a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) field activity located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Tim represented NAVSEA's submarine RCM program, trained system engineers in the principles and methodologies of RCM and worked collaboratively with them to engineer cost effective submarine class maintenance plans for all Navy submarines. In 2001 the American Society of Naval Engineers published a technical paper Tim authored on the development of Age and Reliability Profiles. Other professionals in numerous RCM presentations have referenced the significant findings of that study. Recently Tim participated in exporting SUBMEPP's RCM process to the Navy's Aircraft Carrier Planning Activity. In 2004, Tim briefed the Commander of Submarine Forces, Vice Admiral Donald, on the details of making Reliability Centered Maintenance decisions. Also in that year, he presented for the Institute for International Research (IRR) at the Best Maintenance Practices Symposium in Houston, Texas. Tim received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the University of Maine in 1986. In 1997, he received a Master of Business Administration degree at New Hampshire College. In 2005, the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals certified him.

  • Robert L Moates, Consulting Engineer - Mr. Moates earned a BSME from Auburn University in 1971. He has over 32 years of engineering management and supervisory experience in operations and maintenance positions with the fossil power production segment of Tennessee Valley Authority(TVA). In particular, he managed the introduction of RCM into TVA at the new $500 million scrubber addition to the dual 2400 MW plants on the Cumberland River. The RCM scrubber project identified several design modifications which, together with the RCM-based PM Program, has provided over 10 years of operation without a forced outage shutdown. For a period of 12 years, he managed the continual application of RCM in the TVA fossil system, and directed various detailed root cause analysis efforts on significant failure events. His RCM efforts led directly to annual savings of over $300,00 in plant maintenance costs and a reduction of $600,00 in the spare parts inventory.

  • Nick Jize, Consulting Engineer - Mr. Jize has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 25 years of engineering experience. During the past 15 years, he has worked directly in the field of maintenance and facilities management. He has performed numerous Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses and has applied the findings into successful optimized maintenance solutions. Mr. Jize is also a leader in the development of RCM software solutions that have greatly reduced the time it takes to complete an analysis. His strong combination of experience in mechanical engineering, RCM, software development, and predictive maintenance has resulted in significant reliability improvements while drastically reducing costs for his clients. Nick is co-founder of JMS Software.

  • Joseph Saba, Consulting Engineer - Mr. Saba has worked in the maintenance area for over 25 years, and has over 8 years of direct experience in maintenance optimization and the application of reliability centered maintenance (RCM).
